Emily's Adventures
Hi everybody! This is Emily. Today we went to an amusement park,(yes, in China!) and tried some of the games there. It was sort of like the ones in America. I mustered my courage and went on the swings that fly in circles. I liked it a lot better than the American version. It was very relaxing. We went on the carousel, then to the bumper cars.
Dad and Annie hopped in and zoomed off. There were only three cars in the ring, and one was decidedly above "children's games." Dad obviously was not. He attacked the two innocent little girls next to him with a vengeance. One was completely bewildered, and the other was fighting back. They were both giggling like crazy. While waiting for Dad to finish terrorizing the little girls, we read the "Notice to Passengers". It makes perfect sense. Make sure to read it, it was so sensible that we took a picture.
Dad was still ramming into the Chinese passengers in the green bumper car. After they got off, they were still laughing and pointing. After that, we went to look around. Soon, we had a pack of admirers at our heels. One of the girls, greatly daring, came up to Dad and said, in English, "Do you speak Chinese?" Dad vigorously shook his head "No." It was well that we did not. She turned around and said something in rapid Chinese. They all giggled.
We headed down to the beautiful lake that borders the park and, after some negotiation, our guide told us that it would cost sixty RMB(about $10) to board. Dad gave him the money and we went on a 20-minute boat ride. It was really fun.
After that, we went back to our rented van and headed to the silk factory. Long story short, we looked at one, and another and another and another and another and another and another and took about two hours. Mom finally decided on the second one.
By the way, if you ever meet a Chinese man with glasses by the name of Sam that has been the guide for the Kelley family, ask him to do his Chinese girl imitation. It's hilarious.
We went back to our hotel and met with some friends who are adopting a 7-year-old. They have a 3 other girls of 10 yrs, 12 yrs, and 14 yrs. We all went crazy. Now I am quiet and respectable, Caroline is asleep, and we are all happy. Blog you later! Bye!
